The copper is not coated, so it will darken over time and change colour if mixed with water. This can be brought back to a polished finish with Brasso polish, which is available in all major supermarkets.
To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. It is not advised to submerge the trivet in water or clean in a dishwasher.
